Code of Conduct
At Dottir, we want to ensure that everyone at our events has equal opportunities to participate and be treated equally, regardless of their background. To improve safety for everyone, we ask all participants of Dottir events to follow these principles:
- RESPECT. Treat everyone with dignity and respect. Recognize that people have different perspectives and experiences, and refrain from making assumptions about others. Always seek for consent and respect personal boundaries, whether it’s before physical contact or discussing sensitive topics. If you need to challenge someone’s ideas or behaviour, do so with respect.
- USE NON-DISCRIMINATORY LANGUAGE. Use language that is inclusive and non-discriminatory. Avoid using sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or any other form of oppressive language.
- TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY. Be
open to feedback and willing to learn from mistakes. Take responsibility
for your words and actions, and work to address any harm caused.
Apologize if you intentionally or unintentionally offend someone.
Respect others’ experiences, without questioning them, even if you
disagree.
- SUPPORT. Offer support to those who may need it. Be mindful of others’ emotional and physical safety and offer assistance if someone appears uncomfortable or upset.
- NO TOLERANCE FOR VIOLENCE OR HARASSMENT. Physical violence, harassment, and any form of abuse will not be tolerated. Anyone who witnesses inappropriate or discriminatory behaviour has an obligation to intervene and report it to the designated contact person. Anyone engaging in inappropriate behaviour will be asked to leave the space.
These principles are intended to create an environment where all Dottir event participants feel safe and included, enabling respectful, open dialogue.
